Method. Bearings between geographic coordinates are geodesic azimuths (Vincenty 1975) on the selected ellipsoid, so they are true bearings, not the flat-earth atan2 that a spreadsheet gives. The grid bearing is the same line expressed on the UTM projection: grid = true − convergence, with convergence computed from the Krüger series to sixth order. Traverse coordinates are plane computations on the entered bearings and distances, adjusted by the compass (Bowditch) rule when that box is ticked, and the enclosed area is the plane area of the adjusted figure. Verified against GeographicLib on every release — azimuths agree to 2×10⁻⁹°.
